A prototype attempts to test the critical aspects of the full system. It intends to describe how an idea or feature will work whereas a PoC simply shows that it can be done. The prototype it is a working interactive model of the end product that gives an idea of the design, navigation and/or layout. It would allow a project team to understand the steps that the Chatbot takes to process the query and to develop a response.A pilot is the testing of a fully functional product that is offered to a portion of your target users. The purpose of running a pilot is to get a good understanding if the client would use certain functionality and how it is used with actual clients. Using our example, a pilot would test whether and how taxpayers actually use the Chatbot in addition to what it is being asked. The feedback collected during a pilot should be used to tweak the product before it is released to your entire user-base. A second pilot may be warranted depending on the extent of the pilot.
To summarize, a proof of concept tells you whether a product can be developed and tests the technical feasibility, a prototype shows how the product can be developed, and a pilot informs you about whether clients will use the product.
